On the 27th of July 2009 Mpho Popps Modikoane entered a local television show entitled So You Think You’re Funny! That’s where the general public first noticed him. He then went on to the club circuit in Johannesburg. quickly making a name for himself and sharing the stage with some of the big names in the industry like Trevor Noah and Marc Lottering, to name a few.
His next stop was Blacks Only with David Kau and Chris Forrest. Mpho has now become a regular on the line up receiving a standing ovation on numerous occasions. After the success of Blacks Only, he went on to the Market Theatre for the Just Because Comedy Festival. 2010 saw Mpho go back into television and he did an episode on Mzansi Magic’s Opening Guys. He then appeared on the Late Night with Kgomotso show. He also appeared in the miniseries Taxi Ride as Kumba, a man of many faces who is a loud person with a mischievous side.
Mpho made his first appearance on DStv’s Comedy Central channel in May 2012 in the first ever episode of Comedy Central Presents… Live @ Parkers, a gig that was headlined by John Vlismas. He was also a commentator on the second season of the Vuzu show 10 Over 10, in 2013. In 2013 Mpho became one of the celebrities to compete in the sixth season of SABC3′s reality competition, Strictly Come Dancing. In 2014 he hosted the SABC1 reality competition cooking series The Perfect Sishebo Show.
