Sello Maake Ka-Ncube is a South African actor and Director (born in Orlando, Soweto, in 1960). One of Africa’s esteemed actors and voice-over artists – having performed his work in theatre, film and television in his home country as well as the USA, Britain, Canada and other parts of Europe.
Sello has the uncanny ability to adapt and portray a variety of roles convincingly. He is widely known for his role as Archie Moroka on the soap opera, Generations. And subsequently, for his lead role on Scandal, as Lucas “Daniel” Nyathi; he also did The Lion King (SA), as Mufasa; the title role in The Lion King (London); Othello: An African Tale; Call Us Crazy (for which he won the FNB Vita Award for Best Performance in a Comedy by a Male); The Suit (DALRO Award for Best Actor); wrote and directed Drama Queen: The Lebo Mathosa Tribute. Other notable achievements include: Standard Bank Young Artist Award 2000 (directing); FNB Vita Nomination for Best Ensemble Performance in Musical Theatre; served on the National Arts Council Theatre Panel; Pan African Heritage Broadcast Achievement Award for Drama. He is currently serving as a board member for the Gauteng Film Commission.
