Vivek is a seasoned corporate executive who has a passion for sensitizing leaders to the power of cultural diversity to drive innovation, leadership, and bottom line growth, whilst preserving identities of individual cultures. He believes that being a cultural “outsider” could be the best thing that could happen to an individual/group. He gives talks, facilitates workshops, and consults at the confluence of cultural diversity, innovation, and leadership.
Vivek was most recently COO at JSE-listed Choppies Supermarkets, a ZAR 12 Billion corporate. At 34, he was the youngest COO in the company’s history & led it to a successful turnaround by December ‘16. Prior to this he was an entrepreneur in 2 South Africa-based tech start-ups. Vivek also served in senior management roles at Fortune 500 corporates Micron Technology & Harley-Davidson, both in the USA. At 22, he was the youngest Board Member of the non-profit Idaho Foodbank. He got his MBA at Kellogg (a top 5 US MBA) & BEng (Computer Engineering) at the University of Arizona. Vivek was born in Zambia, raised in Botswana, and lived/worked in the US for 14 years. His experience covers 20 countries; Vivek has developed deep expertise in African, Western, and Indian business cultures.
